I had my weekly piano lesson last night and, to be honest, I was dreading it a bit because I hadn’t practiced since my last lesson.  While I was waiting for the lesson before me to finish up, I started chatting with my teacher’s sister.  She knows vaguely of Starlite and was asking me questions and seemed pretty interested.  I could tell she thought it was “more” than it really is, so I was careful to mention that we’re still a small ministry, we’re just local, etc.

When her sister came out to get me for my lesson, I said “Oh, I don’t think I’m going to get any stickers today because I didn’t practice over the last week.”  You see, I live for the stickers.  One week, when I had done exceptionally well, I got two stickers.  It was a great week.

My teacher’s sister said “Well, you are running a worldwide girl’s revolution so I think you should at least get a sticker for that.”

Before I could explain that Starlite isn’t, um… worldwide, I was whisked away for my lesson.  It was painfully obvious that I hadn’t practiced but my teacher didn’t say anything about it.  At the end of the lesson, however, she handed me my written practice instructions for this coming week and I noticed something scrawled at the end of the page.

“Lord, help Amy Beth.”

Well said, my lovely piano teacher.  But at least there was a sticker beside it.
