Reader Questions… Round 2

Buckle your seatbelts… um, actually, quite literally (at least for this first question!).

Liz asked “I want to know how you make your videos while driving. Are you using a digital camera, a small video camera, or a webcam? It never moves around on the dash or so it seems…”

Oh, Liz. I am about to greatly disappoint you, my father and the local law enforcement. I make the videos while holding my camera IN MY HAND! Isn’t that just horrible?!? It is so dangerous. In fact, after the last video, I told myself that I was just going to have to find another way to do it. I’m still trying to figure out how… I mean, if Imaginary Boyfriend is in the car with me, no big deal — he can just hold it. But when I’m by myself…

As for the rest of your question, I shoot the videos using my digital camera. That’s why we don’t have good sound quality and I end up sounding like I have a lisp. Not that there’s anything wrong with having a lisp.

Lauren asked “When is the next puppy bloggy post?”

Well, I honestly don’t know. The puppies are indefinitely grounded at the moment. Why, you ask? I’d love to tell you:

1. I woke up in the middle of the night a few days ago to find Snuggles sitting IN MY FILE CABINET eating one of my college loan papers.

2. Earlier today, Cuddles felt the need to eat my iPod earbuds.

3. Both puppies found the roomie’s dried roses and proceeded to spread them throughout the downstairs are of our house.

4. The also found a bag of trash. See item #3 if you’re wondering what they did with that.

Need I go on?

Michelle asked “What is your favourite place and why? And, if I ever end up in the USA please can I spend a day with you? I think it would be far too much fun!”

First of all, of COURSE we can spend a day together — but only because you use the British spelling of the word “favorite.” Why, that’s just brilliant.

As for my favourite place, I really like being in the Starlite office. I need to do a post about this sometime, but we actually operated Starlite out of my dorm room for a couple of years. To have a REAL, LIVE OFFICE that is gorgeous is still pretty unbelievable to me. Sometimes I still pinch myself.

I also like being in Target. But that’s another story.

Erica asked “What are you an Imaginary Boyfriend fighting about?”

The real question is what are we NOT fighting about. It really all goes back to love languages. Ya’ll already know that I show my love to others via gifts but that I like to receive love via physical touch. For reasons that I still don’t understand, Imaginary Boyfriend NEVER touches me. He doesn’t even hold my hand for crying out loud!

On the bright side, we’re staying pure. Real pure.

Melody asked “What made you start a husband journal? What type of stuff do you write in it?”

I started a husband journal because I thought it would help keep me “on track” and avoid settling. At the time I start writing it, my college roommate had a new boyfriend every single weekend (literally). I was 17 (went to college early), cute (ya’ll won’t believe this, but I was actually underweight for my height when I went to college) and in a prime part of my life for making very bad decisions. I didn’t want to date just to date; I wanted the real deal. So, I started writing to him to help me keep focused on the end prize — him.

I’ve written one post about some entries to him, but I flipped through the journal last night to see if I could find anything else I could show ya’ll. Here’s a silly one from a couple of years ago near Christmastime:

Baby, where are you right now? What are you doing? Are you with your family… are you alone? Are you wishing I was in your life? Where are you darling?

I had so hoped you would be here by Christmas. I wanted you to take me to Dollywood at Christmastime. Silly, I know… but for some reason, I just wanted that memory.

Love you,

Amy Beth

What can I say? I’m obviously very easy to please if all I want is for him to take me to Dollywood.

Kate asked “So I absolutely love shoes. They tell a lot about their owner. What are your favorite pair of shoes?”

Easy. Any pair of wellies on the planet. They’re my favourite.

PS - Thanks for your get well wishes yesterday. Going to try a half-day at the office today.

As for doing the whole camera/driving thing, go to Walmart and get some contact paper. It’s this squishy stuff that I use to keep my camera from falling off my dashboard and me from running into everyone. :-)

Oh I am so glad my British spelling of favourite has earned me some time with you in the future. Just wait until you hear my accent! I doubt you have ever heard an SA accent, but it is a mixture of that and a British.
Hope you feeling better today.
