I have something important to tell you.

I’m having a baby, too.

JUST KIDDING. BUT HOW AWESOME WOULD THAT BE?

If I was, you know, married. And older. And quit drinking Sunny Delight with every meal.

Anyway, I really do have something important to tell you, so listen up!

Starting this Friday, I’m going to do a ten week experiment with ya’ll that I’d like to call Fetus Friday. I’m sorry about the name, but ask any of my friends — I think the word fetus is so cool. Why? I have no idea. But you better believe I’m gonna take every chance to use it.

Fetus, fetus, fetus. I love it!

But back to the details: basically, every Friday morning, I’ll post a question for you that Roomie and I have about pregnancy, mommyhood, etc. And then you smart, smart mommies will leave a comment telling us everything we’ve ever needed to know and offering to come live with us and teach us your ways and cook pancakes for us every night and do our laundry and tuck me into bed at night.

Okay, you can leave out all the baby stuff. But you’re still fixing the pancakes.

To make Fetus Friday REALLY special, Roomie and I have a favor to ask of you. We’d like to take things a step further and have YOU tell US something you think we need to learn via your own blog.

For example, we might ask about delivery options this Friday but you might think “Hey, I bet the girls don’t know that they need to do such-and-such before the baby gets here.” So, you’ll write a blog about it on your own blog and come back here to use Mr. Linky to tell us it’s up. Make sense?

Probably not. But hopefully you get the gist of what I’m asking.  Updated to add: I am hearing that the term “Bloggy Carnival” is appropriate — maybe that makes more sense?

The reason we wanted to do this part of it is because, while we will certainly have a question for you each Friday over the next ten weeks, we know that there is probably quite a bit of stuff that we might not think to ask.

For example, someone left a comment a few days ago telling us that we need to take a package of Depends to the hospital with us for Roomie. We would have never known that.

And trust me, Roomie wishes that she didn’t know that.

We’ve got right around 10 weeks until Baby makes his/her debut, so… what we’re trying to say is… START WRITING YOUR FETUS FRIDAY POSTS NOW.

That will be all.

Except for saying thank you. Again. And, more than likely, again on Friday. Unless you think this whole idea is stupid and then no one signs up on the Mr. Linky and then Roomie and I will have to curl up in a fetal (sounds like fetus!) position and cry a bit.

P.S. – I have a surprise for you on Monday that may or may not be the big reveal of Baby’s gender. You may begin casting your votes now. I predict you have a 50-50 chance of getting it right.

P.P.S. – Can someone make me one of those cute bloggy buttons for this? Please?

P.P.P.S. – Fetus.

Aww… for some silly reason, I’m crying. You’re sweet AB and I suspect Roomie is your equal in that department. I’d love to participate. =)

Well, I won’t be participating in fetus Fridays because I know you already know more than me about the whole babies thing. I’m no help until the kid is at least 5.

I’m guessing a girl. Because your blog is pink. Though your blog was pink before you ever knew about all this. But I still think it’s a girl.

Depends? Really? I can honestly say that I have given birth to 2 girls and have NEVER worn Depends…. Not a day in my life.

I don’t know anything about Depends, but I have heard that you should take some “feminine hygiene” products because the ones they provide at the hospital are circa 1965.

LOL @ Dawn “circa 1965″ True dat. Roomie doesn’t necessarily need Depends, I guess…but somethin’!

Too funny.

Ewww… the word fetus sounds like feces. I’ve never been a fan. Still, Fetus Friday sounds like a lot of fun. I’ll be sure to participate once I’m back in the blogospere (just two more weeks!)

P.S. You HAVE to tell us why DEPENDS are necessary. I’ve never heard of this phenomenon before!

I never used depends, but EXTRA LONG, EXTRA THICK, EXTRA…GET THIS GUNK OUTTA MY BODY, pads are necessary.

I don’t think you know what you’re getting into. Women (whom have had children)LOVE to talk about delivery. I’m convinced it’s because hubs wants to forget what he saw…completely.

AB – maybe if you referred to it as a bloggy carnival like most bloggers do, we’d all understand. Make sure you tell folks to link to their post, not their whole blog. That’s important info…

I have given birth to four children and have never used Depends. Ugh. To each his own, I suppose, but Yuck. I don’t think I ever took any “products” with me. Used their freebies (I’m cheap like that)and then had plenty at home that weren’t quite as circa 1965.

But the thing I DID take every time? Special smelling soap. Any time I smell it years later (I used Crabtree and Evelyn Rose), it takes me back to those sweet days. And made the hospital and birthing smells a bit more bearable. New pjs are also a must.

Oh girl, you are in for it! :) Nothing moms like talking more about than their own delivery stories! :)

I’m with those who never used the Depends. And I didn’t get circa 1965 pads, at least my hospital gave me some with adhesive. But they could have been mistaken for a bed pillow they were so enormous! They needed to be, but seriously, they were huge! Fetus Friday sounds like a great idea! You’re sure to get a zillion different opinions and suggestions. When I had my first, the input from moms who’d been there, to tell me what I needed at the hospital was invaluable. We looked like we were moving in for a month when we got there! It was pretty hysterical! #2 was a much pared down event!

I am pretty sure you are my new favorite person even though I don’t know you! :)

I didn’t use the depends, but had the nice LONG pads and used hemrroid pads in them with the witch hazel which were HEAVENLY! They were cool and soothing.

I just had a baby in April so I will participate in the Fetus Friday! :)

I have had two babies and never heard of anyone using Depends. I’m just sayin’….
I’m all about the free albeit large pads that they supply you with at the hospital. I’m having a bit of a blog brain-fart so will be glad to participate in your Fetus Friday bloggy carnival.

Fetus Friday sounds like a hoot.

I haven’t heard of anyone using Depends either. The hospital provided me with tons of the monster pillow pads, witch hazel pads, and Lanolin (which is essential if Roomie will be nursing Baby–because nursing HURTS for the first few weeks). Don’t worry, they will send her home with everything she needs…and more!

OK – I’d love to help and participate in your weekly bloggy carnival… but the name is where I’m hung up. I guess I don’t love the word fetus as much as you. I have really deep reasons for it that I won’t get into here… just not appropriate.

Anyways, ???Depends??? Nah, she doesn’t need those…

Wow, apparently I started a Depends controversy. If there is one thing I’ve learned through talking to friends it’s that everyone’s experience is different. In my particular experience, regular pads wouldn’t have done the job for the first few days at home (the hospital didn’t send any of their mattress sized pads with me). Maybe some day when baby #2 comes around, I’ll be able to make it without my Depends.

Roomie should also bring a roll of Paper Towel along to the hospital. If she has the baby from where God intended it to come from they’ll give her a squirt bottle & tell her to “pat dry w/ toilet paper” which will then stick & become quite irritating. Just don’t flush the paper towel! :)

I always crave breakfast food too. I advise eating as much stuffed french toast from IHOP as you can get!
