Sorry I missed this week. :(

Apparently dukey isn't confined to the labor room, so I had to post that today.

I'll get mine up next week.

As for your question, I can't discuss it. Just eat everything that sounds good to you in mass quantities. It's ok. Seriously... In fact, I think I'll come up there an help you.

Avoid gaseous foods. Gas is worse when you're pregnant. Seriously.

I'm doing ok on this weight thing I think. I started out heavier than I would have liked to but so far I think I have only gained baby weight. I am up about 14lbs and am 25 weeks pregnant. I try to walk every day I don't work, walk a lot at work (I am a nurse) and try to eat a lot of vegetables! Stay as active as you can. :)

I gained about 30 lbs. with my first, and I'm currently pregnant with my second. I'd rather not gain that much weight again, but I guess we'll see. Walking is definitely easy and doesn't require any equipment, which is perfect. I was teaching 1st grade during my 1st pregnancy and it was summer my 1st trimester, so I walked a LOT everyday, but after school started in the fall.......I never walked consistently after that again. So that was a downfall. I did get a pregnancy yoga video this time (it's being shipped right now from the U.S.) to try. My girlfriend LOVED it, so I'm going to check it out. I have lower back issues and I figured yoga could help with that.

Eating.....that's the hard part. :) Last time I REALLY craved anything spicy. This time, it's salty. Just try to eat as healthy as you can, but an occasional "treat" definitely won't hurt you.

Blessings!

Oh my. I don't that I'm the one to ask.

Like Jeni, I was overweight and actually lost weight with all of my pregnancies. I was TERRIBLY sick all the way through. I ate what I could keep down.

By my fourth, I was doing a lot of things to prepare myself for labor because I was planning a home birth. I got an exercise ball and spent a great deal of time on it (helps *during* labor too!). And I walked and hefted three other children. =)

Oh, and pelvis size-schmelvis size. My opinions on that point are often considered "radical" so I won't say any more than that. =)

Breastfeeding DOES help you lose the weight faster, but be careful!

Once you stop breastfeeding, you have to cut back on calorie intake as well. You can't get away w/ 3000 calories a day anymore.

I gained 40-45 pounds wtih my baby girl. And at my 6 wk appointment, I had lost all but maybe 10 pounds! :) I tried to keep my eating habits on the healthy side, but I craved hot fudge sauce. Roomie, BREASTFEED!! Not only is it best for the baby, it really does help you shed the weight faster, since your body has to use more calories to produce milk. BUT, if it is not a reality for you to do it, don't beat yourself up about it.

We have a prenatal yoga class in my town that the hospital offers free. You can't start until you are in your second trimester. I tried it, once. I'm not a very graceful person under normal circumstances, and trying to do yoga stretches, which I was not used to, when I was 6 months pregnant and already had a basketball belly did not go well. :) I think I will try it again with the next one though, and start as soon as I am allowed to. Several women have told me that it helps with labor a lot, and girls, I needed help with labor! :)

To stay in shape during pregnancy I walked everyday. I had a friend who was more motivated than I was who would come to the house everyday & make me walk w/ her.... so I guess you get the be the motivated one (if need be)!

It could be my lucky metabolism, but I find that if I just eat smaller meals (don't keep eating just b/c something is delicious), I can eat what I want, but I have to stop as soon as I start feeling full b/c otherwise I get really bad heartburn.

I think most people start thinking they can eat a TON of food b/c they are eating for 2, but it doesn't give license to stuff yourself every meal. One of the 2 is smaller than Snuggles & Cuddles, so it doesn't need to eat very much (but it does like things like oreos & ice cream too)!
