I expect the endorsement offers to begin rolling in any moment now…

On Saturday afternoon, Roomie and I decided to head to The Nearest Real City With Actual Good Stores to try to find a rug for our dining room area.  We looked in every silly store this side of, well, the world until we decided to brave the mall to see if our friends at JCPenney’s had any rugs we like.

At this point in the story, I would like to mention that JCPenney’s is not sponsoring this blog post.  I’m sure that they’ll appreciate that disclaimer once they read the rest of the story.

So there we were, just two girls looking at the plentiful rug selection at 8:46 p.m. on a Saturday night.  We found a rug we liked but it was a little out of our price range, so we decided to look at the rugs that were on sale.

As we were sorting through them, I spotted the rug we had fallen in love with in the very back.  Before we got too excited, I told Roomie that I was going to go find someone to make sure that the rug was actually on sale.

In my haste to find this person, I seem to have missed the fact that a Very Large Rug had fallen and was obstructing my path.  I did, however, notice said rug when I tripped over it and fell on my face right there in JCPenney’s.

Oh yes I did.

Even worse?  I was wearing a skirt.  My shame knows no bounds.

I bet you’re expecting me to tell you that Roomie rushed over to help me up, but NO, YOU WOULD BE INCORRECT.  Roomie just began laughing hysterically.  In fact, she was laughing so hard that she had to hold onto the wall shelves to keep from falling herself.

I am happy to report that, other than my pride, nothing is really hurt.  I do have bruises down most of the left side of my body which, when displayed to Roomie, somehow cause her to react with another fit of laughter great concern.

But, JCPenney’s?  Are you still reading?  I would love to be your new spokeswoman, especially if you can get that rug for me for free.

Did you try the Home Goods store or Southeastern Salvage? Both places have good prices on rugs…

Sorry about your bruised…., um, ego.

I know you don’t want to drive far, but I work in the flooring industry… and you should take I-75S to Exit 341 (it’s 10 miles below Chattanooga) and go to Hank’s carpets. They have the best prices on area rugs! I can attest to that!

What’s sad is that if this was a situation with any of my friends, I would laugh out loud while holding onto the wall as well.

Yes. Yes I would.

But I do hope you’re OK! : )
