The breakfast of champions.

Even though I have to spend this pretty Saturday working at the Starlite office, that doesn’t mean that there shouldn’t be a little breakfast fun before I head out the door, right?

Roomie and I planned to sleep in and I’m happy to report that we made it all the way to 7 a.m. Once we realized that there was no way we would be able to fall back asleep, we decided that pancakes were in order.

I had this sudden idea that I knew how to cook pancakes, so I informed Roomie that I’d be making breakfast for us. And since ya’ll probably need plenty of cooking instruction from a pro like me, I thought I’d share my wealth with you.

First, get out your flour, eggs, etc. and make some homemade batter. And remember, pros don’t need to use recipes.

Next, instead of just making regular round pancakes, get some lovely pancake molds from your local fine cooking store.

Attempt to make a high heel shaped pancake. Disaster will ensue.

Give up and make regular round pancakes, including a very small one to send to the womb for Baby.

Or, you could just watch me attempt it in real life. The part where I grab the hot iron is just bonus material.

You’re welcome.

That’s too funny! In your defense, I have found it difficult to make pancakes in those fancy molds. And I’ve been making pancakes for my kids for years!! =)

Don’t worry. Those crazy molds didn’t work out for me either.

I think my favorite part was when you said you “went out and BOUGHT homemade pancake mix”.

I doubt the mold would be very easy for anyone, though I’d say you could blame it on the fact that you were doing it one-handed (because you were holding the video camera). Yeah, sure, blame it on our need to witness these life-changing events in your life :)

And now I want pancakes…. yum!

Shake & Bake pancakes. mmmm. Too funny. My 9 yr old daughter makes them all the time for us. I’ll have you over and she can show you the tricks of the trade. Rule #1 - Molds don’t work. (If you insist on using a mold, you need to spray it with PAM first, and add abit more water to your pancake mix (it was too thin.)

You are too funny.

Hilarious my dear!
Over here pancakes are not like that at all, and I don’t mean that as an insult to your culinary skills.
Our pancakes are thinner than that, just a bit thicker than a crepe and we also put syrup on them, although cinnamon sugar is also a favourite, sometimes with a sprinkle of lemon juice. Then we roll them up, instead of eating them in a stack.
Good breakfast choice, I like your style!

Great! My fetus is asking for pancakes now! Is that shake and pour stuff good? I got excited when I saw the commercial.

Oh gee! I use the same “homemade” pancake batter and mine is never that thick. Are you sure you added enough water?

You def. have to add more milk when using molds for pancakes.

I usually freehand the kids’ names, mickey mouse, carebears..whatever.

The only good molds have a little handle to take them out, but you still have to spray them down w/ Pam.

Pancakes hurt my tummy (no gall bladder)…but I love them.

Oh yummy pankcakes! I bet that just warmed roomie and baby boy’s heart! We just learned how to make banana pancakes at our house and I guarantee that I will be CRAVING them when I am pregnant next time!

Hey, can you post that recipe for banana pancakes??
I agree with the others, give it another try but add a little more water. I’ve been watching your blog, blessings to all of you, can’t wait till you see that baby face to face. You’ll be amazed at your capacity to love.

If we were better friends, I might inform you that you are a failure of a cook.

But you know, I wouldn’t want to offend, so I won’t.

When I saw that high heel pancake, I just laughed. Laughed at the comment about the broken paper towel holder too (I’ve done that). I also enjoyed the scurrying to the skillet after showing the decor.

Yay for your pancake making! Any attempt at cooking should be viewed as a success.
