Dolphins, whales and Dippin’ Dots, oh my.

October1

Shockingly, I didn’t tell you everything about this past weekend’s date with the Roomie.

I know what you’re thinking: there’s more to the infamous date? Well, yes. I didn’t even tell you the best part yesterday, the one aspect that made it Best Date I’ve Ever Been On.

Which isn’t saying a lot considering I once was taken to a dirt track race on a date.

I kid you not.

After slushes, Babies ‘R Us, Texas Roadhouse, Hobby Lobby and, perhaps most memorably, the men’s restroom, Roomie, Wee Little Fetus and I got in the car and headed straight for the IMAX theater in downtown Chattanooga.

Why, you ask?

TO SEE A MOVIE ABOUT DOLPHINS AND WHALES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay. I feel I must explain.

Those of you who haven’t been reading for very long won’t know that I have a slight obsession with whales, especially one in particular. That’s right: I watch Shamu’s webcam at night to help myself fall asleep. Just because I love him and he loves me and, if I wasn’t doing ministry, I might like to be a killer whale trainer.

And to think I gave up that dream to scoop processed nacho cheese for kidlets.

I first found out that IMAX was showing this film a few months ago when I took MacKenzie to downtown Chattanooga for the weekend. Ever since then, I’ve wanted to go back — especially since I knew that movie wouldn’t be playing forever. I had this dream that ex-boyfriend and I would go see it together, but since there’s no way that’s going to happen, I decided Roomie would be an excellent substitute.

Which, as Roomie and I discussed as we headed to the theater, is ironic because (and prepare yourself because this is where our story gets really twisted) at one point a couple of years ago when ex-boyfriend and I weren’t together, he pursued Roomie.

Seriously, stop and think that through for a minute. I now live with the girl who he wanted to date while he and I weren’t together but he and I aren’t together now and she and he aren’t together ever and now she and I are raising her soon-to-be-born child and yet there are no hard feelings between anyone involved unless he gets mad when he reads this and could this story get any weirder?

Kind of makes your head spin right off your neck, huh?

And so that’s how I ended up sitting in the near-empty IMAX theater with a 8.5 month pregnant woman eating Dippin’ Dots beside me instead of the guy I had thought I’d be there with while various dolphins and whales swam across the abnormally large screen.

Life is so weird sometimes.

We saw that flick back in August, when we went to Chattanooga for our anniversary. It was pretty good, although I could do without all the political messages.

And you have a very complicated life. :-)

“…could this story get any weirder?” Yes – If baby fetus is his baby – that might make it even weirder. I’m just saying…

I love IMAX (or should I say I heart IMAX)!!

Ohhh that sounds like a one to watch on Imax. I wonder how long until it gets to SA. We finally got dippin’ dots a couple of years ago! Go us!

Sometimes, in our “weirdest” moments, we find great clarity. Glad you and roomie are celebrating the last few days of freedom.

Yes. Things can ALWAYS get weirder… I promise.

And, Abby’s comment is hysterical. My littlest is almost 3 & there is seriously NO FREEDOM…still. You can’t just go anywhere on a whim. It takes planning for nap time, supplies, etc. From now on Roomie will use the toilet w/ the door open because there is no privacy once a baby enters the picture.

Can’t wait to hear the stories in a few weeks!!

Oh, and I found a good explanation about Roomie’s weight loss for you.

Dippin’ Dots are SOOOO good and topped off with a whale movie. Heavenly.

I wanted to be the Beluga whale trainer. I had every book and learned about whales and knew what I needed to major in. Just think we could have been whale trainers together… The AmyBeth, Kelli and Their Whale Friends…… I see it in the lights… :)

Life is like a bowl of Dippin’ Dots and a IMAX movie about whales. You never know what you’re going to get.
