A lovely little list.
A list. Because, well, it’s just that kind of day:
1. Babies spit up. A lot.
2. We had just enough gifts for our elementary school girls yesterday. I actually had a nightmare last night that we didn’t have enough gifts and the girls were chasing me to the playground. And I’m not even kidding.
3. I went home this past weekend for all of 24 hours. In one of those hours, my mother cornered me in her bathroom and asked if I would rig the Taviano book contest in order to make sure she won a copy of Is That All He Thinks About? I told her I could do no such thing and she replied that I would do it.
4. It is weird when your mother is dating someone and you aren’t. It is even weirder when your mother asks you to let her win a book about you-know-what from your blog.
5. The two winners of the contest are Jaime and Jaclyn (who I know in real life and who is SO CUTE YOU WOULDN’T EVEN BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND)! Jaime and Jaclyn, email me and we’ll get your books to you! For the rest of you that didn’t win (hi, mom!), Marla’s offering a special on the books right now (three books for $20 — shipping included) plus you can pre-order Expecting. Of course, if you’re a single girl like me, you could join me in ordering the one about being a blushing bride and call it a faith statement.
6. I’m sorry, mom. Please don’t take away my inheritance over this.
7. Also, mom, while I have your attention: I know what I’m buying for your stocking this year.
one time my GRANDMA had a boyfriend and i didn’t. talk about awkward and humbling. luckily she never mentioned anything about any topic approaching what marla’s book is about. i feel your pain.
To piggy back on amykay’s comment, my grandma, WHO IS IN HER MID-80s (!) does have a boyfriend, and I do not. And they also went on a weekend getaway to NYC a few years ago. Surely they had separate rooms…right???
I love the relationship you have with your mother! I have the same with my daughter.
Ooooh, congratulations to the winners! Let me know what you’ve won! (which book you want)
Thanks so much, Amy Beth, for doing the give-away. You’re the greatest! (and wait until next week to buy Blushing…)
And Mom, of course I want to keep my word and send you Is That All? but I have to get it approved by Amy Beth first. I’m sure you understand.
The rest of you need to buy it FOR SURE. It’s a winner.
Thanks again, AB!
So the baby is a week old and you’re blogging about spit-up.
Sound about right.
Next week? Poop and the joy that is “the blow-out.”
