At least he’ll have something to amuse himself with while he waits for the exam to start.

Around noon today, I headed to the campus dining hall where I joined two of my college girls, Dalphina and Keri, for lunch to celebrate the end of their final exams. Over a salad, baked potato and bowl of Fruit Loops (hey, at least two of my three choices were good!), we talked about boys, Starlite and, well, boys.

Somewhere in between the salad and Fruit Loops, a dashing young man walked up to the table to talk to one of my girls. I immediately became suspicious because I am, if nothing, Mama Bear when it comes to boys wanting to talk to them, date them or marry them. Carter, however, won me over with one single sentence:

“All morning I’ve been trying to memorize the books in the New Testament and I finally succeeded because… {dramatic pause} I CAME UP WITH A RAP!”

I, naturally, asked him to join us for lunch as long as he promised to perform this rap for me before his first bite of ravioli. What can I say? I’m a slave driver.

I’m happy to report that not only did Carter perform his New Testament rap for me in it’s entirety, but he also launched into it again later in the meal with no prompting from us whatsoever. It was, in a word, fascinating.

The best part of the meal came a few minutes later, however, when one of my girls asked him what time his New Testament final was taking place today. Carter’s response?

“I’m actually not sure, but I plan to go sit in the classroom after lunch and just stay there ’til whenever it’s supposed to start. I figure it’s sometime this afternoon or maybe tonight.”

Well then.

I love funny, absent minded college guys. And I love college dining halls. So many choices in one place. Heaven.

And here I thought he really had the smarts… instead, he’s just an adorably typical young guy. :)

Just sitting there until the exam starts SO sounds like something my husband would have done in college.

This one sounds like quite a man!

I love your stories!!! You HAVE to video tape this guy – I wanna learn it myself…. his mind has been so involved in figuring out the rap, it cleared his mind of his schedule!!! Poor guy!

I’m also hoping you are able to get this on video…

You’d think the school would have the time for the finals posted online… I wonder if he thought to look… Guess he’ll have lots of time to practice his rap :)

Oh, please PLEASE find him again and post a video of his rap! I’d love to learn it! It would be great if you could also persuade him to make up one for the books of the Old Testament.

Ok, I need to know if this boy got to take this NT final. I always had a fear of missing a final. The times of all my finals were written down every where… on my hands (both), on every folder, on a post it note on my mirror, on a post it note in my car.
