Well, it’s almost the same thing as love, right?

I had lunch with my friend Brittany just a bit ago and she told me a story that I just had to tell y’all (seriously, when she finished telling me, the first words out of my mouth were “Can I please blog this?”).

When she and her now-husband were dating, they both realized early on that they were “the one” for each other and fell in love pretty quickly though neither one had actually told the other one they felt that way.

One day, while sitting on the couch, he worked up the nerve to tell Brittany he was falling in love with her. She said he told her there was something he needed to tell her, took a deep breath and then said those three magic words every girl is just waiting to hear.

The only problem? He was so nervous it came out “Brittany, I loathe you.”

My husband does not remember this but take it from me this is how it went down. We had been dating for about 3 months when my husband got up the nerve to ask me when do we know when we are in love except he couldn’t say the word love cause he was too shy to. So I asked what he thought a couple had to have to be in love. He said respect, and I told him I respected him and he said he respected me. Then we continued to methodically dissect every aspect of love word by word agreeing that we both had that aspect for each other until he finally said, “Well, then I love you” and I said” I love you too”. Then he said, “So, when do we get married?” Yikes!?! was my thought. We did start looking at rings shortly after that though and were engaged three months later. Not the most romantic way to say I love you but most defininetly the most well thought out way!

So maybe those boys who told you that in elementary school were just nervous?
