Daily Peek: The white canopy.

I called Katie around lunchtime to see what she was doing.

“You’ll never guess, actually.  What is the most unbelievable thing you could imagine me doing?”

I had to think for a good minute or so, but then it hit me like a ton of bricks.

“You’re reading my blog, aren’t you?”

The blog is almost a joke between me and Katie because she never (I’m talking NEVER) reads it, mainly because she not only knows everything I’m writing about before you ever see it but finds the things I can’t write about to be far more interesting anyway.  Five minutes after we hung up, she sat flat ironing her hair on the floor beside me while I laid on her bed staring at the white canopy she made from pieces of fabric.  I started thinking about all the times I’ve laid looking at that canopy these last few years while we’ve talked about every area of our lives.  I’ve never been afraid to tell Katie the truth about my life because I’ve never been afraid that she wouldn’t tell me the truth about my life, too.

That canopy will be packed away in a couple of months.  I’m going to miss it.

I am looking forward to seeing that face of guilt when Katie is confronted about not reading your blog.

I like the canopy too.

I’ve ALWAYS wanted a canopy!

So glad you have a friend like Katie…they are hard to come by.

If Katie had a blog, I would tell her “so glad you have a friend like Amy Beth…they are hard to come by.”
