That girl never met a song she didn’t love.

March25

As promised, here’s the current playlist that’s rocking my pink iPod when I’m working out:

Desert Song by Hillsong | One of my favorite songs of the moment. LOVE it.

Her Morning Elegance by Oren Lavie | Love the words and cello in the background, too.

Crazy by Gnarls Barkley | Old school, but who doesn’t love this song?

One In A Million by Bosson | Again I’m hitting the old school stuff. No shame in my game.

Eyes On Me by CĂ©line Dion | “Some rules to the game of me.” Why yes, there are some.

Hollywood’s Not America by Ferras | Put those blue jeans back on, girl.

Ooh Aah by Grits | I step it up a bit whenever this comes on. Can’t help myself.

A Little Bit More by Jamie Lidell | You’d recognize it from a past Target commercial.

Crush by Jennifer Paige | Because, after all, it’s always just a little crush. Right?

One Step At A Time by Jordin Sparks | Especially love the opening beats.

Undeniable by Mat Kearney | One of my favorite songs when I’m in l-o-v-e.

Deeper Life by Natalie Grant | Really, how does she hit those notes?

Angel by Natasha Bedingfield | Did you know she used to be in Hillsong? Seriously, y’all.

Go by Newsboys | We once did a routine to this in Starlite. Watch yourself!

Something Beautiful by Newsboys | Another song that I especially like when I’m in love.

Catchafire by tobyMac | My college girls can’t believe I even know who tobyMac is. Duh.

No More Chains by Nichole Nordeman | ‘Cause I’m on the treadmill to lose a few chains.

And, just for the bonus round, here’s my current bedtime playlist clocking in at 15 minutes:

Calm the Waters by Watermark | Older song, but it goes with my current place in life.

Healer by Kari Jobe | Off her new CD which you need to own. Today. Actually, yesterday.

My Beloved by Kari Jobe | Again: buy the CD. Please. You will thank me. Promise.

No One Like You by Hillsong | Only a few words to the song, repeated over and over.

You Are For Me by Kari Jobe | To think that He’s really for us. Unbelievable. Get. The. CD.

So, what needs to go on the iPod next? I’ve got an iTunes gift card that’s dying to be used.

If I had to pick just one (which you didn’t limit me to, but I’m sick and it’s all I’ve got the energy for right about now), I’d say “Times” by Tenth Avenue North. That song got me through some rough times in Liberia last year. More for the bedtime mix than a workout one.

Oh my gosh! Grits!! Ooh Aah is one of my fave songs! I think it’s hilarious you have it on there!

I really like the Benjamin Gate (Jeremy Camp’s wife’s band before she became Mrs. Camp). They are pretty uptempo and kind of alternative. I like them a lot!

OK, so I hadn’t heard of a lot of the songs on your working out playlist, so I’m not sure if these suggestions are even the kind of music you like, but I’ve got a 49-minute playlist that I use on my runs, and here are some of my favorite songs from it:

    Supermassive Black Hole – Muse
    Vida la Vida – Coldplay
Hey Ya! – Outkast (clean version!!)
    Superman – Sister Hazel

As far as other good music you could use your iTunes gift card for, have you ever listened to Jill Phillips? She’s pretty much my favorite female artist. I’d recommend one of her older CDs, “Writing on the Wall,” especially the songs “Wrecking Ball” and “Grand Design.” Just from reading your blog for nigh on a year, I think you would really like those two in particular.

Kari Jobe = My heart! There was a time where I had “The More I Seek You” on repeat for pretty much 6 months.! Also a HUGE fan of the new cd! Keep singing, my friend!

Thanks for the song suggestions! :-) And I bought the Kari Jobe cd . . . you twisted my arm!

Darn you. I went and listened to “Desert Song” at iTunes. Bought it. Added it to my running playlist.
    Love it. Thank you.

Agreeing with Chelsey, Supermassive Black Hole by Muse is an AMAZING song. It is so on my work out list…

The “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” soundtrack is superb.

Ok, a few good workout options would include “Lemonade” by Human, “Little is Much” or “Unbelievable” by Downhere (though any of theirs are good). Ginny Owens also has some good upbeat stuff, but you’d have to scan through and see what fits your style, but be sure and hear “Wonderful Wonder” and “Something More”. Also, I have loved Nichole Nordeman for many years now and recommend anything she has. “River God” would be a good bedtime one of hers. “Legacy”, “Sunrise” and “Every Season” are awesome, too. And “Blue Skies” by Point of Grace always gets to me.

    Ok, I’m stopping.

My current favorite song is called “How He Loves” by Kim Walker. It’s sick. It’s soooo good. Also, “Say So,” “We Have Overcome,” & “Favor of the Lord” by Israel & New Breed, “Take It All” by Hillsong United (esp off the “The I Heart Revolution” album), and “I Know” by Desperation Band are good upbeat songs. Other good stuff, but maybe not for working out…Brooke Fraser, Beckah Shae’s “Joy” cd….I could go on with music all day. But I’ll stop now. The end.

Don’t laugh…but Beyonce’s Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it) totally makes me dance on the treadmill…I’m sure I’m not the only 31 year old pastor’s wife who does this…ok, I take that back…I probably am ;)

Tyler Hilton: Pink & Black; Kiss On
    Earth Wind and Fire: September
    Stevie Wonder: Everything is Alright
    Temptations: Build me up Buttercup
Kelly Clarkson: Since You’ve Been Gone
Rhiana: Please Don’t Stop the Music

I have many others too–but for the life of me I can’t remember the names off the top of my head!

I like “Eyes on Me” – went to Celine’s concert in January (fabulous!) and just bought that album on iTunes.

My work-out playlist includes Aerosmith (since we’re obviously not going strictly Christian), Black Eyed Peas, Outkast, and others. Throw in some Gavin DeGraw, old Bon Jovi, and Journey and Eagles are super motivating.

    Get your workout on!

Definitely pick up Brooke Fraser’s album “Albertine” when you get the chance. She sings with Hillsong united, and sings on Desert Song (So good, I agree with you). Her album isn’t “Christian”, more like thought provoking. Love it. I doubt you will regret it :)
