In nearly seven years of Starlite, over 100 different college girls have served as leaders of our programs with well over 1,000 other college girls serving as volunteers in those programs. Every so often, I just “connect” with one of them and our relationship continues long after they’re done serving with us — something I can’t help but wish would happen with every college girl I’ve met through Starlite.

Jennifer is one of those girls; I met her during her first week of college and ended up getting the pleasure of watching her serve with us her entire freshman year. We had lunch today, talking about everything under the sun: the boys in her life, her experiences with Starlite, her relationship with friends, the boys in her life, her upcoming transfer to a college closer to home and, believe it or not, even a little bit about the boys in her life. While she talked about her new college, plans for internships and everything in between, I couldn’t help but hope that I’ll still be in her life when it’s time for her wedding invitation and baby announcements to arrive in my mailbox.

Maybe we’ll even celebrate with a little ice cream seeing as that’s what brought her to us.
