Daily Peek: Those side-swept bangs.

“I’m giving you side-swept bangs.” Snip, snip.

He didn’t ask my opinion, but I wouldn’t have argued anyway — he was the hair expert, after all. He didn’t say anything else as he worked, just quietly concentrating on the cut. Finally, he laid down the blow dryer, looked at me in the mirror and said “You have gorgeous hair.”

I quickly began arguing, because that’s what I do when someone compliments me on any part of my appearance. And then, bending down to where only I could hear him –

“I said, you have gorgeous hair. Now look at yourself in the mirror and be quiet.”

Well, then.

LOLLLL! I got side swept bangs once without asking. Problem is I have “cowlicks” or whatever they are called and it is next to impossible for me to have bangs side swept or not. By the time I said “please don’t” they were cut! LOL But it sounds like this particular hairstylist was pretty serious business!!!

That’s the key girl… find a fantastic stylist and let him do whatever he wants. As long as he listens to your experience about what your hair can and cannot do – you’ll be fine.

I prefer having male stylists – (esp. the gay ones) because I believe their compliments!

I like this guy – LISTEN TO ME – YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL!
I just wrote about that the other day – my new guy can’t comprehend my insecurities – he doesn’t see any of the flaws that I see.
That’s nice. And generally true about men.

Well I guess he told you…. Good for him. And AB, I have the same problem accepting compliments, so I totally know where you are coming from. Sometimes we just need to say “Why, Thank You.” and then shut up. (or at least that’s what my wise roomie Mary says.)
