Daily Peek: “Aaaiiimmm Beth’s got jokes, squirrel!”
I got a call from Cousin Cate earlier this afternoon informing me that she was nearby and, perhaps more importantly, had a baby squirrel up her pant leg. The fact that this news somehow didn’t surprise me in the least should explain a lot about Cousin Cate.
When I arrived, camera in hand, Cousin Cate informed me that she had already called her mom for permission to bring Baby Squirrel home with her to live seeing as it appeared to have fallen out of a tree and was now on it’s own. Her mom wasn’t moved by this story, however, so Cousin Cate decided to just spend some quality time with Baby Squirrel on his turf.
This, of course, resulted in a video in which Cousin Cate reacts to my caution to not kiss the squirrel by informing me that she’ll kiss whoever she wants to.
Like that’s a surprise or something.

I’m not at all shocked by that 
I have 3 baby squirrels living in the tree outside my apartment. I’ve named them Alvin, Simon, and Theodore (oh, I know they were chipmunks, but same difference).

My parents rehabbed a squirrel for a few months last fall and I miss that little thing. It was one of the most fun pets we’ve ever had (and there have been several.) I think this post has made me miss her (the squirrel) a bit.
Tell Cate they really like the clusters from Honey Bunches of Oats and that is squirrel diet approved.

O MY GOODNESS – we had the EXACT same thing happen to us!!! A two month old squirrel, named Bart, started playing with our kittens and wouldn’t go away. We caught it and kept it indoors for a bit. It would sleep in your hands, climb up on your head and just sit there eating almonds. WE LOVED HIM!!! 
We finally had to take it somewhere else to let it go.
Cate’s squirrel is sooo cute!!!

Awww, the squirrel is so cute! What ended up happening to him? I was hoping his mom would take him back…but I have no idea about that kind of thing!
