You do have to give the girl points for arriving with a gift that no one else was (even dreaming of) giving.
This past weekend was the final celebration before Katie’s wedding, which is in a little less than three weeks. Since most of us were driving in from other states to be there, we decided to pack the lingerie shower and bachelorette party into one 24 hour span.
I packed the car on Saturday morning and, before long, I was on my way to GA! Katie’s gifts are the three packages in black and white paper and I’ll give you one guess at which set of triplets who turned five years old this past weekend were receiving the gifts beside hers.
Guess who came to the shower as well? You’d recognize that girl anywhere, wouldn’t you?
I’ve made it a tradition to show you what the gifts I give look like and, even though this was a lingerie shower, I can still show you part of the gifts. First up was a make-up bag with her new name on it. There was a little something special tucked inside it, but I can’t exactly show you that gift with boys reading along.
The bigger box contained a “towel-robe” with Katie’s new initials embroidered on it. She’s wanted one of these for as long as I can remember and, when I saw this one in pink and white, I knew it was the perfect time to get it for her.
If you look back at the picture of my packed car, you’ll notice that there were three boxes for her and I’m only showing you the gifts from two of them. This would be because I can’t actually post pictures of the contents of the middle box, but let’s just say I made sure to include a little something “fun” with all the other embroidered gifts. I mean, after all, it was a lingerie shower.
Oh, and Katie loved the towel-robe thingy!
I have to tell you that my favorite part of the shower was sitting next to Cate as the gifts were being opened. Cate’s gift for Katie was a bit more… exciting than the rest of the gifts Katie was receiving. As Katie opened package after package of “pretty” attire for her honeymoon, I couldn’t help but laugh knowing what was waiting for her in Cate’s package at the bottom of the pile. I’ll skip giving you a description of Cate’s gift and just let the look on her face right before Katie opened the gift explain it all:
Also: I have actual video footage of Katie opening Cate’s gift and the dead silence in the room when she pulled the, um, outfit out of the box, but it is unsuitable for le bloggy. Imagine complete silence for a good ten seconds followed by the loudest laughter you have ever heard whilst Katie turns as red as a tomato.
After the shower ended, around ten of us headed to Turner Field to meet up with 10 of the guys (who were off doing their own thing during the shower) for a Braves game. As you can see, we were already making Katie wear her “bachelorette” sash whilst Cate was representing for the Braves.
Groom-to-be Eric was there, of course. Believe it or not, he reads the blog each and every single day. Hi, Eric! Feel free to send me a thank you note after you see what was in that black box of mine at Katie’s shower. And, feel free to send Cate a trizillion thank you notes after you see what was in her box for Katie.
I took some random pictures of the bridal party whilst the game was between innings. Check out Rachel, another bridesmaid (and Eric’s sister) whom you’ve met before at one of Katie’s previous showers. Isn’t she just the most photogenic girl ever?
Jason, one of the groomsmen, was one of the 20 of us there, too. He gets a picture on the blog simply because of that awesome shirt he’s wearing. Way to sport the bold colors, J.
Cate and I were keeping things under control, of course. Here we are getting ready to take a normal, cute picture together when she said something that made me laugh right before the flash went off. This picture pretty much sums up our entire relationship.
After the game ended, we all headed to Atlantic Station so the bachelor and bachelorette parties could commence. I actually don’t have any photos from the bachelorette party, but we had a very good time at a gorgeous downtown restaurant. It was very, very late (or, actually, early the next day) when we got back to Katie’s house. Cate and I were roomies in one of the guest bedrooms and, even though it was way after 2 a.m. by the time we crawled into bed, we laid awake talking until we fell asleep in the middle of a conversation about nuclear warheads.
Just kidding. We were talking about boys. Obvs.
The next day I headed back towards Atlanta to have lunch with an aunt I haven’t seen in 16 years and then met up with Those Triplets Whom I Adore at a Georgia science museum where they were having a little Sunday afternoon fun.
Believe it or not (and I think you’ll easily believe it), this is the only picture I have of them that doesn’t look like three blurs running around a children’s science museum. We had the best time and I was so excited to get to see them, especially since they had just had a birthday. When it was time to leave, we pulled the gifts out of the back of my car and had some fun opening packages filled with puzzles and bubbles and coloring books before it was time for me to head home.
Of course, it didn’t really hold a candle to watching Katie’s face when she opened Cate’s gift at the lingerie shower but it was a pretty close second.

I look forward to sending such thank you notes to you and Cate
Girl…I’m calling you out in the spirit of love and truth…
Your boy Jason was NOT included in this post because of the color of his shirt. Your boy Jason was included so that gals like me could enjoy some eye candy. Claim it!!
PS: You had me blushing WITHOUT knowing what on earth Katie’s secret gifts were. Sheesh!
I can only imagine what your gift and Cousin Cate’s were… I have some pretty funny stories from bridal showers! I gave my best friend some not really all that risky underwear at hers, but the funny part was that it was in the church basement and this was actually the first “lingerie” that she’d opened and then about 10 seconds later the pastor walked down the stairs!
The other one was what I gave my college roommate. I told her I didn’t know if it would fit right, but she had the receipt if exchanges were needed. Before I could even finish the sentance one of the other ladies there (older, but single!) grabbed it and threw it in the corner. There, she said, it fits. That’s where it’ll end up anyway! And we couldn’t talk for about 5 minutes we all were laughing so hard!

Looks like an amazing time!
