Cate would say hello herself but she’s too busy making a wish because it’s exactly 11:11 p.m.
Cate and I had planned to head out of town around 4 p.m. on Thursday which means we actually got on the road at approximately 6:07 p.m. I’d like to blame it entirely on Cate, especially since that’s one of the perks of having your own blog, but I happen to be laying beside her in bed as I type this so that might not be the best idea.
I like to think that the reason we were over two hours late in getting on the road was because of a bunch of factors that created a perfect storm if you will and by “a bunch of factors” I obviously mean the fact that I needed to get a spray tan and Cate needed some chili cheese fries from Sonic and then we almost forgot to buy the sparklers for the wedding but then we went to the wrong fireworks store AND NOW YOU SEE WHY WE LEFT LATE.
I must admit that, approximately 30 seconds into the spray tan experience, I was absolutely certain that I would regret the decision to allow a machine to spray me with “medium-to-dark” tanning stuff, but it’s been about five hours now and I’m happy to say that I’m already looking like I spent a week on a beach which is a much happier alternative to blinding all the wedding guests with my pasty white skin.
We’re at the Scott’s house tonight and you know what that means: TRIPLETS. We have to be at the airport early tomorrow morning to pick up a friend who is flying in for the wedding, so J. was sweet enough to let us stay at her house tonight so we could be much closer to the airport. We were racing to get here before the triplets went to bed and I’m happy to report that we got almost an hour of play in before it was time for them to head to bed.
Cate isn’t really around kids much, so it was pretty hilarious to see her with three all at once. They all loved her, but K. really loved her and I wish y’all could have seen them on the hammock together. As we were all walking back up towards the house, K. looked up at Cate and said “I would like for you to carry me, Cate.” Cate gave me a look that seemed to scream “WHAT DO I DO?” but recovered quickly, picking her up and saying “Well, you only weigh about 10 lbs so I believe I can handle that” AND I FELT LITTLE TEARS FORMING IN MY EYES AT THE SIGHT OF CATE WITH A KIDLET ON HER HIP.
After the kids were in bed, Cate and I had the best time talking with J. about everything under the sun before finally heading to bed a few minutes ago. As soon as we shut the door to the guest room, Cate said “This is like being in a movie!” and I said “I KNOW, RIGHT?” because finally, someone else gets how awesome it is to be a single girl staying in this house. We decided within about three minutes of getting into bed that we’d like to be the first members of J.’s fan club and that we’d also like to bring our future boyfriends here so she and her husband can approve of them.
Of course, by the time we have boyfriends the triplets should be enrolled in college so J. will probably have plenty of time to devote to the boyfriend approval process.
Love your title!! I so totally was making a wish at 11:11 too!!!

I doubt you’ll read this before you leave J’s house…if you do, tell her Cindy Carmichael said hello. We grew up in the same town…have known her forever.
Totally jealous of you right now. I love J’s blog and reading about the adventures of her family. Now you are totally a part of those adventures. Luckyyyyyyyyyyyy!
You’re brave for getting a spray tan two days before the wedding!
You’re going to have such a great weekend. I’m praying God’s blessings on everyone involved.
Yay for spray tans!! I’ve never gotten one but always wanted to
I just thought you’d blame the late start on that nasty shot you had to get so you can to you-know-where. From the sounds of things on Thursday, y’all would certainly have lost at least 2 hours recuperating.
Have a great wedding weekend!
Glad that you two are feeling better. I hope that you have a blast this weekend. I love reading Lots of Scotts, and it’s sweet that you two have a connection. Best wishes for all that is involved in the wedding!
Hey sweet girls! You forgot to mention that the movie would be a comedy!
loved having y’all!
sounds so fun!! I hope the wedding is awesome and free of wardrobe malfunctions!
