The story of how Miss Black became Mrs. Brown.
As you may remember, Cate and I left town two hours late on Thursday afternoon. We had all the important things one would need including my pink purse, my pink iPod and our drinks from Sonic.
I’m one of those people that types up address info, locations we’re going, etc. on a list before we leave town. Since it was for a wedding, I used my favorite hearts font because I’m 12 years old, you know.
You’ll remember that we stayed with our favorite triplet family on Thursday night! And lo, a picture that documents Cate’s face when left in a room with wee children, particularly three of them.
On Friday morning we picked our friend from college, Kimberly, up from the airport three hours late. We immediately went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast because there is nothing like catching up over breakfast from The Best Restaurant On Earth.
We headed to a mall afterwards because Cate had forgotten to bring a dress for the rehearsal dinner. While we were there, we happened to try on some sunglasses at Forever 21, mainly because we wish we could stay 21 forever.
Here’s Kimber, rocking the stunner shades.
And Cate getting a bit colorful on us, but of course.
We headed to where we were staying to get ready for the rehearsal dinner and, in true fashion, were running late. I didn’t have time for my hair to get optimum height from my pink velcro rollers, so I did the only appropriate thing in such a dire situation:
That’s right. I drove an hour with velcro rollers in my hair. And then posted a picture of it on my blog. BECAUSE I AM DARING, THAT’S WHY.
Also, I hope you like my new sunglasses because I think you’ll be seeing them a lot this week on le blog because I’M WRITING THIS POST FROM THE BEACH! BECAUSE I AM ON VACATION! REAL, LIVE VACATION. WITH SAND AND WATER!!!
Not that I’m excited or anything.
Back to the drive to the rehearsal. Because I like to keep my priorities in order, I had my top three important necessities in the cupholders so I could work on some hair maintenance at each red light.
Here’s the bride in her gorgeous dress. Doesn’t she look calm?
By Saturday afternoon I was ready and, at a stoplight, took a quick picture so I could try to show y’all the “bridesmaid hair.” I didn’t quite get the full thing, but you can at least see part of it, and the make-up, too.
The wedding was at The Historic Tate House, a gorgeous mansion (and I mean mansion) in Tate, GA. We got ready in the master suite, with Katie’s dress being the center of all our attention, of course!
A view from the back:
Funny story: as I was pulling my dress off it’s hanger, one of the straps broke. Like, snapped right off the dress. I panicked, but luckily Jennifer was standing by to sew it back together for me (another bridesmaid had the same thing happen a bit later!). Her zipper had broken off the dress just a bit before, so she still had the needle and thread ready to go.
I had a beautiful bouquet, if I do say so myself:
Before we knew it, the wedding had started! The bridesmaids (and Katie!) walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of Fix You by Coldplay. If you’re familiar with the song, you’ll love knowing that Katie didn’t come out of the house and start down the path until the crescendo nearer the end of the song. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the crowd, especially not on Eric’s face.
Speaking of Eric, when the minister told him he could kiss his bride, he grabbed her so hard he knocked her veil right off her head AND I AM NOT EVEN JOKING.
Since I was taking pictures, I’m not in a lot of them, but here’s one I found on Facebook to show you me in the dress, even though you can’t really see it on me (I’m the dark-haired one standing to the left of the bride):
Also, not that this is important or anything, BUT DO YOU SEE HOW HIGH MY HAIR IS? I’ve got to tell you how that high of hair was achieved later this week, mainly because it amazed even me.
The reception was just perfect! I was supposed to be seated with my friend Tyler-The-Identical-Twin, but he was busy taking care of the playlist so I ended up getting to sit with Jason and Dylan-The-Other-Identical-Twin. I don’t have pictures from the reception, partly because it was too dark in the room but mainly because I was too busy on the dance floor.
I did get a quick picture of the gift I gave her before I wrapped it, ’cause it’s kind of tradition for me to show y’all her gifts. It’s hard to really tell the size of it from this picture, but I got them a stone thing for their house that says their wedding date and such using the colors they’re using in their sunroom (click on it to enlarge and you’ll see their names are engraved onto it!):
And you know what? Together is a great place to be.
Especially if it’s on your honeymoon. I’m just sayin’.

AB, Honour and I had a conference: it has been decided that on your wedding we will be speechless. You are breathtakingly beautiful. Even standing next to a bride you nearly steal the show. As Tyra would say: Work it!

Ms. Amy Beth, I’m sure I’m not the only one who has really, really been looking forward to seeing you in your dress on the wedding day! The photo of you is absolutely lovely, of course, but we want to see MORE! Especially with all your admirable diet prep and what- not leading up to the day. There must be a clearer photo of you looking beautiful, and I, for one, think you should POST IT!!
Mazel Tov to the happy couple!

Have you ever thought about spelling favorite “favourite” to go along with “whilst”? You may have addressed this before… just checking.

Seriously, a step-by-step hair tutorial (with pictures) is in order! You looked adorable and everything was beautiful! “Our” wedding turned out wonderfully! (Technically, it was my daughter’s wedding, but I kept calling it “my big day”!)
Our photographer blogged a “sneak peek,” if you’re interested, here:
