Nine hours until a hot shower, clean bed and two crazy puppies.

Well, I’m back in the London airport again, this time on a computer in a little coffee shop.  It has a timer telling me how many minutes and seconds of internet time I have left and, to be honest, it’s making me a bit nervous.  I can’t blog under pressure like this!  Also: the keyboard and I seem to have different opinions about where certain letters and punctuation should be located, which makes it a wee bit difficult to type quickly ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE IS A CLOCK COUNTING DOWN THE SECONDS LEFT.

As you’ve probably guessed from the above paragraph, I’m on my way home!  I’m leaving before the students, mainly because I have to be back for a big event at work.  So, whilst they were asleep this morning, I snuck out in the dark to head to the airport.  I just finished a 4.5 hour flight and now have a 9 hour one stretching out in front of me.  I love to fly, especially when it’s with British flight attendants.  On that note: guess who scored extra fruit on her breakfast tray this morning probably because she was using a fake British accent that impressed the flight attendants to no end?

I had a great trip and still have plenty to tell you about it, which I’ll do over the next few days (I’ve still got some friends helping out with guest posts, too, so that I can take time settling back in!).  I’m a bit nervous about heading back to the states simply because I have a 70-ish hour work week ahead of me next week… as well as moving to my new house!  I have no idea how it’s all going to get done, but it always does.  It sure would be helpful if Snuggles y Cuddles have spent their time at home packing up our house, but something tells me they’ve instead spent it playing with Nina, one of my college girls who has been house sitting for me.

Speaking of those puppies, I am so excited to see them I can barely stand it.  I’ve made myself not think about them on the trip for fear of crying (you’re making fun of me now, I can sense it) and I’m happy to report that I only teared up twice at the thought of them during this entire trip!  If you had of told me that I would be an animal person five years ago, I would have laughed at you.  Couldn’t stand the things, except for killer whales, of course.  And now?  Now I’m basically head over heels for a couple of five lb. balls of fur that have chewed up no less than three pairs of my ballet flats during their short lives.

Leaving Cate in Eg*pt felt strange, of course.  We did, however, get plenty of extra bonding time WHEN WE HAD TO GO TO THE EMERGENGY ROOM LAST NIGHT.  Y’all, I could not make it up if I tried.  When we went back out for another round of snorkeling during our few days at the Red Sea, Cate got stung by something.  She noticed it but honestly didn’t feel that bad at first.  By yesterday, though, she was sick as could be.  Our hosts in Eg*pt insisted that she go to the hospital and it was a very good thing — by the time we got there, she was drifting in and out of consciousness.  She’s good now, but I’m going to let her tell you the story on her blog first.  Can’t be stealing her thunder now that she has a blog of her own.

I just checked the countdown and it looks like I only have a couple of minutes left, so I better get off here and head towards my gate.  I’ll check in with you again tomorrow, but in the meantime, will you tell me what you’ve been up to these last few weeks?  Little things, big things — I want to hear them all, right there in the comments.  It’ll give me something to look forward to reading when I get off this next flight!

Well, that is if I get off.  If I can find myself a male British flight attendant looking for a girlfriend with a killer fake accent, I’ll be on the first flight back to London.

Can I be first? Let’s see…I’ve finished my Master’s degree, helped birth a litter of puppies (anybody want a puppy?), finished up the homeschool year with my 4 kids, begun to plan for the next homeschool year, potty-trained my youngest, done a million loads of laundry, endlessly cooked and cleaned up the kitchen afterward, and many other mundane but necessary tasks….
What I have NOT done is gone to Egypt :) . What an adventure! I want to hear every last detail so I can be a world traveler vicariously! LOL I love reading your blog :) .

I laughed out loud at your comment about the crazy keyboards they have in the UK. I’d always mess up when typing over there.

Hmmm…what I have done since you left? I celebrated my first wedding anniversary and blogged about it, took a mini-trip to Michigan for a weekend, and seriously sought God about His plans for our future.

Have a safe flight home, and enjoy those British accents while you can!

Haven’t done a whole lot since you’ve been gone, truly. Mostly just persevering through morning sickness. We did, however, go to the doctor on Monday, where we heard our baby’s heartbeat for the first time. It made all the feeling yucky worth it. :)

Glad you’re back – I’ve “missed” you!

If you find that British boyfriend, I’m in total support of that relationship. Just wanted you to know.

Okay, basically what I’ve done since you left isn’t all that cheerful {definitely not pink polka dotted material} so I’ll just say that there were a bunch of moments where I wished you were here. And then I was so excited that you were in Egypt seeing pyramids and ancient temples and Hatshepsut’s temple and that I’d get to live vicariously through you and Cate. And then I wished you were here so we could go see a movie.

That’s all.

Hi, AB! I’ve been following your escapades in E*ypt and think you are very brave. Especially about the food. Ugh.

Oh, those wacky European keyboards! Kind of like those wacky Europeans, huh?

Good luck with the jet lag. I have a lot more trouble going from East to West than the opposite. Last summer I came back from Switzerland (like how I just tossed that one in there?!) and felt nauseous for two days. So let us know how that goes for you.

Hmmm…..I broke my foot (yes, in a foreign country), learning to live in a cast, taught 15 or so rowdy children about Jesus, fell again while on crutches, learned a lot about just sitting and listening to Him, and finally, today just read Arab*c for the first time.

Welcome home! I will be praying that the upcoming week of craziness goes smoothly and with least amount of stress as necessary.

Um… let’s see. I went to a family reunion, cuddled little boys, spent alot of time in my mini van (totally not as bad as it’s cracked up to be… I mean it’s no Egypt – but it’s not bad) worked on writing a book, fell in love with my husband over and over again, So much good stuff. :)

aahhhhh! I love the part about you talking in a british accent and getting more fruit because of it . . . smoooooth ;) I wanna try that sometime!

While you were gone, I went to DC for a week long internship with a wedding photographer there. It was AMAzing, and it totally gave my photography business the boost it needed. I’m official now! I also started designing my website and completely redesigned my blog, and am so super happy with the results, I look so profesh now :)

So, yeah, now you have heard about the exciting life of a complete stranger over the past few weeks. I knew you wanted to hear all of it :)
Love . . . <3

Hope your trip home goes well and that your move is quick and easy! If your dogs DID happen to pack up your house for you while you were gone, you need to hire them out as movers. I’d pay good money to see two tiny dogs packing boxes. :)

We did a whole room remodel for our youngest daughter, transitioning her from a crib to a super cute pink princess bed. So far, she seems to prefer sleeping on the floor, which is where we’ve found her every morning when we go in to get her up. To each her own, I guess. :)

I hope that you’ll be back to “normal” soon. I’m sorry to say jetlag on the way back is the worst! Whatever you do, do NOT sleep outside of normal night sleeping hours…naps’ll only make it worse!

I’m so glad that you had a great trip and look forward to more stories!

As for my last couple of weeks, they’ve been rather boring, except for this week, as it’s Power Camp at church and I’m spending my evenings loving on a group of 4, 5, and 6yos. Contentment in singleness/childlessness is tough…

I’ve had a couple of sick kids.
My mom and niece and nephews moved out of my house two months early.
I’ve learned some things about family in the last couple of days that make my heart hurt more than it ever has. Lies are ugly.
I’ve gone camping with a blog friend turned IRL friend and laughed harder than I have in ages.
I used a dog comb on my hair this morning because I.CANNOT.FIND.MY.BRUSH!

and I’ve missed you something MAD while you’ve been gone!

Well, the first couple of days you were gone were rocky, you know why HAHAHAA… THen after the A/C was FINALLY fixed, it was GREAT… UNtil the puppies instisted that I wake up at 7:30 A.M. EVERY morning, even if I had been awake for most of the night playing telephone-pictionary with some friends, and of course playing with them. The last full week you were gone, Sade and Lea came over. VBS was going on at our church, and they live in Ga, so I invited them to stay with me. they mostly spent their days playing with the puppies, or swimming at the Blue Hole with Honour and me. My last few days there were quiet, so I sat there, doing nothing :) Glad you are almost HOME!!!!!!

Well, since you’ve been gone…I went to Holiday World, which is a really fun amusemen park – that’s prolly the most fun I’ve had this whole time. Other than that it’s been pretty crummy -we just found out my Grandma has cancer. :( BUT…I have really enjoyed reading your blog because it always makes me laugh! Thanks! :)
