Daily Peek, day 31.

My grandfather was released from the hospital last week. And then, this weekend, he was put back in the hospital. Infection, something you don’t want to hear after open heart surgery. – — – I drove to see him last night and, on my way back home for work this morning, I stopped by his [...]

River babies.

We had highs of 70 degrees this weekend, so the girls and I set out for a little fun on Saturday afternoon.  Lately I’ve been convicted about the fact that I tend to do a better job taking care of their needs than their hearts, so I’m trying to change.  It’s not that I don’t [...]

Daily Peek, day 30.

I hope I don’t spend life alone. – — – “I said, I wanna touch the earth I wanna break it in my hands I want to grow something wild and unruly.” Cowboy Take Me Away, Dixie Chicks

Daily Peek, day 29.

It was a warm day here in Tennessee, so we went to the river to get a little sunshine. (But, since it was January, we wore our wellies!)

Daily Peek, day 28.

Juliana, insisting that she comb her hair by herself this morning. Incidentally, she attempted to use my hot pink velcro rollers also. We don’t share the same bloodline, but we do share the same big hair heritage.

I feel fabulous, too, when I wear wellies.

Daily Peek, day 27.

Three little monkeys, playing on the top bunk. Up next?  Dinner, bathtub and bedtime!

Missing.

This morning I’m missing… holding orphan babies in Egypt feeling pretty winning Juliana over baking cupcakes for my college girls going to MacKenzie’s class parties taking the fab five to Disney on Ice holding my childhood best friend’s baby Starlite seeing Olivia breathe on her own in the PICU lazily watching the Nile River go [...]

Daily Peek, day 26.

Olivia and Juliana, inside their “house” (a recent gift to them from my childhood best friend). – — – After avoiding the girls for days while I dealt with my heart re: MacKenzie leaving, I went and picked them up from daycare today. I’m scared it’s going to hurt me eventually. And it probably will. [...]

Sneak Peek: Josh + Jessica, expecting.

Before my grandfather had his heart attack, I had scheduled a maternity photo session with a couple who are expecting their first baby.  The mother, Jessica, is a blog reader and her sister, Jordan, is also a blog reader.  Jordan and I are about the same age and have gone through a lot of similar [...]
