Daily Peek, day 90.

Tonight was pizza and a movie in my home. We watched “The Last Song,” Miley Cyrus’ big blockbuster. On one hand, I think it’s my new favorite movie. On the other hand, UGLY CRY.

Texts from my college girls, edition I’ll take the buffet, please.

From college girl Anna, who is going to Africa this summer to work with orphans: “I’m so proud of you.  And I might have to eat rats this summer, so quit complaining about buffets.  I’ve been trying to think of a rhyme for it, like your mom’s*: lips that touch rats… I’ve got nothing.” * [...]

She needs bags, not garbage bags.

Well, I’m an actual foster parent. I’m in the process of being matched with the two minors I mentioned awhile back but, in the meantime, I’m currently the emergency foster parent for a pre-teen female for the next five days or so.  That’s right; I’ve got a kid half my age sleeping in the bedroom [...]

Daily Peek, day 89.

Drying the dishes. And waiting on my first experience in foster care to begin this evening. What have I gotten myself into? (Insert half-hearted smile here.)

Behind the scenes with the cameras.

This whole photography business has been crazy — but in a good way!   Between business licenses, taxes, vendors and scheduling, it’s quite the adventure.  I feel like I’m learning something new every single week. One of the things I learned early on is that I have to have help when I’m shooting a wedding.  It’s [...]

Daily Peek, day 88.

In the middle of baking three dozen cupcakes for my college girls and my students. Sometimes cupcakes stress me out. They’re a lot of commitment, you know?

Sneak Peek: Kristian, bridal shoot.

I mentioned yesterday that I photographed a wedding this past Saturday.  It was for Kristian, a darling girl who was a volunteer for Starlite for awhile.  I have the best memories of seeing her surrounded by sixth, seventh and eighth grade girls at one of our middle school programs whenever I would stop by the [...]

Daily Peek, day 87.

The tool box where I’ll be storing my medicine in this foster-approved home. I’m toolbox legit.

A shopping we shall go.

I photographed a wedding this weekend, but that didn’t stop me and Cate from having our own little mini “Girls Night Out” this past Friday night.  We went to Chattanooga for dinner at our favorite little restaurant and then decided to get in a little Friday night mall action.   We started off in a department [...]

Daily Peek, day 86.

The last of the stuff I need to get done in case I get a middle of the night phone call to take in children. (I have to double lock my medicine.) (I’ve just been lazy and haven’t finished transferring it over yet.) (Posted late, but taken on day 86.) (Because I’ve been lazy.)
